Significant Bat Conservation and Research Organisations:
The North American Symposium on Bat Research (NASBR) is a society dedicated to the promotion and development of the scientific study of bats (Chiroptera) in all its branches, including conservation and public education. The society holds an annual meeting, usually in October, of professional bat researchers from throughout North America, with occasional attendees from Europe, Asia, Africa, and Central and South America.
The mission of Bat Conservation International is to protect and restore bats and their habitats worldwide.
The Bat Conservation Trust is the only organisation solely devoted to the conservation of bats and their habitats in the British Isles. It is a highly respected and established organisation combining the strengths of professionals and amateur experts.
The Australasian Bat Society is a non-profit conservation organisation existing to promote the conservation of all populations of all species of bats (Order Chiroptera) in Australasia.
The Coalition of North American Bat Working Groups is a diverse group of land managers, biologists, wildlife rehabilitators, and private citizens concerned with conserving bats and their habitats.
The Lubee Bat Conservancy is an international non-profit organization dedicated to protecting biological diversity through the conservation of fruit bats. They focus their efforts on plant-visiting “fruit and nectar” bats because they are vulnerable to extinction yet vital to the world’s rainforests and deserts and to the economies of developing countries.
Bat World provides rescue, rehabilitation and release for injured bats as well as permanent sanctuary for non-releasable bats. They also have conservation and education progams.
